1317218 Filters SPERRY RAND CORP 4 Sept 1970 [5 Sept 1969] 42406/70 Heading B1D A filter for hydraulic fluids comprises a cylindrical housing 10 with a cover 13, inlet 11 and outlet 12, the housing containing a tubular filter element 14 sealed at one end around the outlet 12 and at the other end about a by-pass valve 20 which is held closed by spring 21 and which opens when fluid pressure exceeds a predetermined value. A sinuous magnetised wire element 30 surrounds the filter element for removal of metal particles, thus wire element being magnetised in alternating north and south poles along its length. An air bleed passage 12a connects the outlet to the end of the housing adjacent the cover 13. An indicating means 25 is provided on cover 13 to show when bypass valve 20 has opened.
