Household ironing machine comprises an ironing cylinder and an ironing cup which is attached to a pivot arm allowing it to tilt about a pivot shaft parallel to the cylinder and engaging the centre of the cup. The cup is fixed to the free end of the pivot arm by a universal joint on a second shaft extending perpendicularly to its pivot shafT. - The universal joint may comprise a U-shaped pivot frame which is rotatable in the pivot arm rotationally symmetrically about the second shaft, with the cup connected to the free ends of the arms of the U-shaped frame. Pivoting of the U-shaped frame and of the cup may be limited by stops. - The machine allows the cup to perform all intentional movements but not any accidental movements.
