Two or more outriggers telescope horizontally in the sideways direction on opposite sides. The outriggers (12a, 12b) have a common external tubular body fixed to the vehicle, and in which inner tubular bodies carrying the outrigger jacks slide. Inside the inner bodies is a telescopic ram, coupled at opposite ends to the outer ends of the bodies, each of which can be locked in position in relation to the external body by a detachable coupling.
