Pipe joint for plain and bell mouthed ends - has outer flange with projections to centre inner pipe

In a pipe connection, one piece is inserted into an enlarged diameter end portion of another pipe (1). The second pipe has a recess holding a seal ring (3) which engages the first pipe when the latter is inserted. The end of the second pipe has a radially inward shoulder (4) retaining the seal but having substantial clearance with the first pipe. The inner periphery of the shoulder has, say four, radially inward projections (5) which centre the first pipe inside the shoulder.
