1501130 Rotatable vehicle seats UOP Inc 11 June 1975 [12 June 1974] 24997/75 Heading A4J A rotatable vehicle seat is locked in a forwardly facing position by engagement of a detent 58 in aligned slots 60 and 30 in inner and outer tubes 14, 16 the outer tube being rotatable and being fixed to the seat frame 24. Brackets 36, 38 fixed to the outer tube on each side of the slot are moved towards each other to cause frictional engagement between the two tubes by the interaction of a cam 52 fixed to a rotatable shaft 46 with a cam 54 fixed to the bracket 38. The detent 58 is also mounted on the shaft which is biased towards a position in which the detent engages the slot 60 and the tubes are frictionally engaged by a spring 62.
