Concrete road or runway construction - completes main slab section first, with intermediary clamps, which contact head edges between which expansion joint fits

Preparation method for a road covering (1) uses at least one series of concrete moulded slabs (3) separated from each other by an expansion joint (2). In the lengthways direction of the concrete slab, clamps are fitted with anchors on the mould beams, and after at least part hardening of the concrete, the clamps are tightened up against the concrete and anchored to corresponding anchors of adjacent expansion seams. Firstly, a main section (9) of at least one slab is prepared, on to which section a head edge (10), completing the slab and limited by the expansion joint (2), is formed. Whilst this is being done, the clamps (11) are temporarily anchored by intermediary anchors (8) between main section and head edge. Afterwards, all clamps are tightened and anchored with sufficient tension to draw the intermediary anchors from their locations.
