The shuttering has screw-jack extendable tubular posts (5) to the nodes of an orthogonal plan grid. Soffits (7, 8) cover grid squares and can be demounted leaving the posts in place. The top length of each post has a barrel thread (4) terminating beneath an enlarged horizontal head plate (12) of a square plan shape. A nut (6) is mounted on the thread (4), with flat head of similar proportions to the plate (12), and is used to jack the corners of four conjunctive soffits (7, 8) against the plate (12). A washer (1) interposes the nut (6) and the forms (7, 8) with top face corner lugs (2) which enter holes (24) in form corners to secure the assembly. The nut (6) is unwound to lower the forms (7, 8) and effect striking, the post (5) being left supporting the freshly cast slab.
