A liquid fuel gasifier for conversion of e.g. petrol to vapour before entry to combustion chambers consists of a pair of concentric cylinders of similar material. Hot exhaust gases are admitted through a top mounted pipe and fill the outer cylinder heating the inner cylinder. Liquid fuel passes into cylinder from a lateral entry pipe, and evaporates and expands to leave as gas via an exit pipe. The ratio of length to width of inner cylinder is at least 4:1.
