The system operates the selector rods of the typewriter by an electrical impulse. Six components (20) of stamped plate rock alongside each other on a shaft (2) and a supporting hook piece (3) on the right hand side of the keyboard. They have first lugs (23) by which they engagage with the selector rods (6), and are pulled by magnets acting on second lugs (27) into the operating zone of the vaned shaft (5). The intervals between the selector rods can be somewhat greater than the stroke imparted to the plate components by the vaned shaft, and after a rotation of the latter the components can be pulled through 30 deg. back into the starting position.
