The report presents a torsional vibration analysis of a ship's propeller shaftsystem driven by an electric motor. The propeller shaft is unusually long at 43 meters. The results of the analysis are evaluated on basis of the specifications of Lloyd's Register of Shipping. A comparison has been made with similar results using a diesel direct propulsion system.
