The call signal is used within the area of a track station for connection build-up between the track station and rail vehicles. Switching means are provided, which deliver an engaged signal when the vehicle (F) enters the track station (S) area, and a free signal when the vehicle (F) leaves the track station (S) area. A signal transmission system is provided at each entry section (B). It assigns to each rail vehicle with communication equipment (F) a call signal from a number of available call signals and is controlled by the engaged signal. When the vehicle leaves the track section, its call signal is returned to the list of available signals.
