The window of a raising rear door of the motor vehicle is fitted with a wiper with an external motor (11). The motor is converted with a streamlined housing (12) whose bottom edge is moulded into a handgrip to raise the door. The housing also contains a light (60) to illuminate the rear number plate. The design provides an unrestricted luggage space under the door flap. It also prevents damage to the external wiper, which is often gripped in conventional designs to open the door.
