The waste heat (approximately 75%) occurring in heat engines is supplied to a circulating medium (17) by means of an intermediate medium (16) in such a manner that when it passes through the states of aggregation, for example in a pressure-reducing turbine (7), additional mechanical energy is obtained which can be transferred via a transmission (8) and a suitable hydraulic coupling (9) to the machine performing work or other units (generators, compressors and so forth).
