A chamber for treating band-type material under overpressure, partic. for steaming textiles, comprises an arched bottom and roof sealed to side walls so that the chamber has a crescent cross-section, and throats formed by bottom and roof and located near flanges secured to the bottom, roof and sides. The flanges have slot openings for material entry and exit, and there are hatches for visual inspection and for fitting the material into a transport device. Gates over the openings pass the material while retaining internal pressure. the chamber can be joined in series with similar chambers, and reduces metal usage and the danger of explosion.
