An image-generating process comprises producing an image generation material from or with three components which consist of a light-absorbing image element which emits virtually no phosphorescence (chemoluminescence), a leuco-base dye precursor which is converted to a dye by an acid/base reaction, and a solid acid which can be melted by heat, and irradiating (exposing) the material with visible light of high light intensity (luminance) for a short period.
