The anvil-vice comprises an approx. rectangular block and is used to secure work during hammering, sawing and filing. Two threaded holes pass through the entire block thickness, locating bolts with tommy bars which secure a straight rectangular section clamping bar. The bar and the bolts are used to apply work-clamping forces normal to either of the major block faces. The bar and the bolts may be used to clamp work onto any of three block faces and the holes may be offset in the bar which can occupy two alternative positions on either face.
