In this work, we found out the effect of the size of the bolts or type of the fit obtained due to the clamping bolts on the natural frequency of the rectangular plate. We achieved this by varying the dimensions of the clamping bolts. The solid rectangular plate was clamped on all four edges to the machine bed sandwiched between two fixtures. A set of 12 numbers of bolts were used at a time to secure plate-fixture arrangement to the machine bed. Such three sets of clamping bolts were used in the study. The fundamental frequency of the solid plate (138 mm × 216 mm × 2 mm) was obtained experimentally for each set of the clamping bolts of identical size.
