NEW MATERIAL:A 6-(3,5-dichlorophenyl)perhydroimidazo[5,1-b]thiazole derivative of formula I: (R is H or CH3; X is O or S; n is 0, 1, or 2). EXAMPLE:6-(3,5-Dichlorophenyl)perhydroimidazo[5,1-b]thiazole-5,7-dione. USE:Agricultural and horticultural fungicides particularly effective against gray-mold and sclerotinia rot, having improved effect on blast of rice plants, gray-mold of grapes, black spot of Japanese pears, alternraia blotch of apples, and black rot of onions. PROCESS:A compound of formula II: (R' is H, or lower alkyl group) is condensed in the presence of an acid under heating, and, if necessary, oxidized with m-chloroperbenzoic acid, etc. to give the objective compound of formula I. The compound of formula II can be obtained by reaction between compounds of formulas III and IV.
