PURPOSE:To permit the light operation for steering wheel by one hand by switching the modes by the output of the sensor for detecting retreat and increasing the steering auxiliary force or reducing the reaction force even if each output of a car speed sensor and a steering angle sensor is equal to that it advance. CONSTITUTION:The pressurized oil whose flow rate is controlled by a variable throttle 4 is supplied into a power steering device 2 from a pump 1, and provides the hydraulic pressure corresponding to the operation of a steering wheel through a control valve 2' and is returned into an oil reservoir 14. Though the variable throttle 4 is operated by a motor-driven actuator 6, said actuator 6 is controlled by a controller 10 into which input signals are input from a car speed sensor 7, steering angle sensor 8, and the back switch 9 of a transmission. The controller 10 is equipped with the buffer, A/D conversion, and driving circuits, and a microcomputer, and the advance mode data A and retreat mode data B are memorized into the microcomputer, and selection is performed by the output of the back switch 9, and the steering auxiliary force is increased or the reaction force is reduced in retreat, and no trouble is generated even in the steering by one hand.
