Crosslinked polymers prepared from allyl or methallyl-bicyclo 2,2, 1!hept- 5-ene-2,3-dicarboxylic acid imides and bisimides

Crosslinked polymers with excellent physical properties are prepared by heating at 180°-300° C. the imides of the formula I ##STR1## in which E is allyl or methallyl, R is hydrogen, alkyl, alkenyl, cycloalkyl, aryl or benzyl when n is 1, and R is alkylene or arylene when n is 2. The polymers can be used, in particular, for the preparation of glass fiber-reinforced and carbon fibre-reinforced plastics and as electrical insulating materials.
