DRESSING METHOD FOR DIAMOND OR CBN GRINDSTONE

PURPOSE:To complete a dressing work in a short time without causing any oxidization and deterioration of a diamond or CBN grindstone by shot blasting the surface of the grindstone for the dressing thereof. CONSTITUTION:While a diamond or CBN grindstone 18 fitted to the tip of a shank 16 is being slowly turned, compressed air is blown from an air injection pipe 12 and an abradant is fed from an abradant feed pipe 14. Then, shots 20 are blasted toward the grindstone 18, thereby conducting a dressing process. As a result, an unnecessary bonding agent for the surface of the grindstone 18, a chip or the like is removed and abrasive grains are projected from a bonded surface, thereby enabling a dressing process for obtaining a desired abrasive projection height in a short time. As aforementioned, the dressing process can be carried out with a bonding agent raised around the abrasive grains and that in a short time with a large abrasive grain retaining force, almost free from the wear of the abrasive grains and without any oxidization and deterioration of the abrasive grains.
