JAPANESE WORD PROCESSOR WITH MEANING EXPLANATION DICTIONARY

PURPOSE:To improve the accuracy and the efficiency for production of sentences with a Japanese word processor by adding a file to the word processor to explain the word meanings. CONSTITUTION:A meaning explanation file 7 stores the meanings of words included in a KANJI (Chinese character) conversion dictionary (not shown here) of a word processor in accordance with the KANJI of the words. Furthermore the file 7 is provided with a KANJI index and a KANA (Japanese syllabary) index indicating a retrieval key in the case of extracting the meaning. A process allocation means 2 recognizes a process instructed by an input/output device 1 and shifts a document editing mode to a meaning display mode to inform a meaning display means 4 of this shift of modes when a meaning display instruction is received from the device 1 in a document editing mode. In the case of shifting to a meaning display mode, the object words for display of meanings are stored in an object word setting part 8. Then the end of the meaning display mode is informed to a screen redisplay means 3 when the end of the meaning display mode is pointed via a meaning display end key of the device 1.
