A method of producing an X-ray picture by means of a photoconductor which converts X-rays into a charge pattern, the photoconductor being uniformly charged before the X-ray exposure and discharged during the X-ray exposure as a function of the intensity of the X-rays, and whose surface is scanned in order to determine the charge density, an image value which depends on the state of discharge at the particular pixel being formed for each pixel. In a method of this type, punctiform artefacts can occur in the X-ray picture. These artefacts can be eliminated in accordance with the invention in a simple manner by first measuring the position of the defect points on the photoconductor, storing the position of the defect points and the course of the artefacts thereby caused round the defect points, determining the amplitude of the artefact caused by the defect point during subsequent X-ray exposures on the image values at the site of the defect point and at the edge of a region surrounding the defect point, and calculating the course of the artefact in the X-ray picture in the surrounding area from the amplitude and the stored course and correspondingly correcting the X-ray picture. …IMAGE…
