When a spatial distribution of a physical quantity to be displayed is given, according to the present invention the value range of the physical quantity is divided into a plurality of small value ranges, then for every small value range the spatial positions where the physical quantity has a value falling into the small value range are obtained to display the same successively for all small value ranges.
