The chain guard has a flat guard plate and a fastener, for fixing to a lower tube of a bicycle having pref. several chain wheels. The section of the fastener (3) facing the guard plate (2) consists of a clamp section (6), and a carrier section (5), fastened by two screws (8) to a tube bracket (7). Clamp- and carrier sections have a toothing, parallel to the guard plate. The rear side of the guard plate facing the carrier section, has two parallel guide rails (10). The guide rails, and the sides of the carrier section over which they engage, have a longitudinal toothing. The rails are pushed onto the carrier section into a secured end position.
