A safety device (4) for a storage tank containing inflammable products intended to stop the flow of a fluid in a pipe (3) located on the output side of a valve (1) at the base of the said storage tank. It comprises a flap valve body (5) placed between the valve (1) and the pipe (3), a flap valve (11) pivoting about an axis (19) located in the upper part of the flap valve body (5) and capable of closing off the outlet pipe; the flap valve (11) is held open by an external element (26), which breaks at high temperature, placed between the flap valve body (5) and a lever arm (21) attached to a shaft (12) carrying the flap valve (11).
