Imidazolyl-substituted phenylacetamides of the general formula IMAGE in which A represents straight-chain or branched alkyl or alkenyl, each of which has up to 8 carbon atoms, or represents cycloalkyl having 3 to 8 carbon atoms, B represents hydrogen, halogen or perfluoroalkyl having up to 5 carbon atoms, D represents a group of the formula -CH2OR3, -CO-R4, -CO-NR5R6, IMAGE or IMAGE, E represents hydrogen, halogen, nitro, hydroxyl, trifluoromethyl, trifluoromethoxy, straight-chain or branched alkyl, alkoxy or alkoxycarbonyl, each of which has up to 6 carbon atoms, cyano or carboxyl, L represents straight-chain or branched alkyl having up to 8 carbon atoms which is optionally substituted by cycloalkyl having 3 to 8 carbon atoms or phenyl, or represents cycloalkyl having 3 to 12 carbon atoms which is optionally substituted by straight-chain or branched alkyl having up to 6 carbon atoms, R1 represents hydrogen or straight-chain or branched alkyl having up to 8 carbon atoms, R2 represents a radical of the formula -C(CH3)2-CH2OH, IMAGE and salts thereof. The compounds are angiotensin-II antagonists and can be used as active substances in pharmaceuticals, in particular for the treatment of hypertension and atherosclerosis.
