PURPOSE:To prevent an eyesore on a screen by deciding whether display information is blank or not and setting an identification symbol blank when the result of decision is blank. CONSTITUTION:A microcomputer 11 of a TV receiver 9 is programmed so as to decide whether the display information is blank or not. For example, when 12 is preset in a sixth channel position 1 as display information 2, the position 1, an identification symbol 3 and the information 2 are displayed when selecting a station. However, when the display information corresponding to the position 1 is unset, the symbol 3 also goes to blank based on the result of the decision that the information 2 is blank and only the position 1 can be displayed on a screen 7A of a CRT 7. Thus, when the information 2 is unset, the information 2 and the symbol 3 are made blank and the eyesores on the screen can be prevented.
