PURPOSE: To detect defect, e.g. crease, bubble, or streak, in a transparent adhesive tape or sheet. ;CONSTITUTION: The defect detecting equipment comprises a high frequency fluorescent light 20 for illuminating the outer peripheral surface of a body applied with transparent adhesive tape (or transparent adhesive sheet), a solid state imaging camera 30 for picking up information of band-like reflection image from the outer peripheral surface, and an image processor 40 receiving the reflection image information. Information obtained by the solid state imaging camera 30 is subjected to pattern comparison with the information of passed product being stored in the image processor 40, and a decision is made that a defect is present if the patterns do not match each other.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1994,JPO&Japio
