The invention proposes an improvement to the suction mouths associated with the cutting and holding units of the yarns in circular knitting and hosiery machines according to which, adjacent to the free end of the mouth, a cutting component with a rotary or rectilinear movement is incorporated, activated periodically by means of actuation and destined to cut all the yarns in the mouth which reach its level, so as to impede the stoppage of the cut pieces of cut yarns and prevent blocking, even partial, of the suction tube.
