Air bag restraint for vehicle - uses shaped strips to secure folded bag to housing

The occupant restraint has an air bag (3) secured to a housing (1) by shaped strips (6). The strips can be inserted into matching counter shapes (7) forming part of the housing to give a positive fit. The shaped strip - viewed in a sideways direction (P) relative to the longitudinal axis - is placeable or lockable into the counter shape. Alternatively the strip can be slid into position, embedded, welded or clamped. ADVANTAGE - Simplifies the air bag connection whilst maintaining a high load bearing capacity.
