PURPOSE: To provide a measuring coordinates setting method and apparatus for a three-dimensional coordinates measuring machine which enables the setting of measuring coordinates easily and in a short time, eliminates the need for setting up the same procedure of setting measuring coordinates each time work of the same shape is measured repeatedly while errors are hard to occur in the setting of the measuring coordinates and moreover, allows the selecting of various measuring coordinates setting forms. ;CONSTITUTION: Various measuring coordinates setting forms are set and stored beforehand and a worker selects a corresponding measuring coordinates setting form from among the measuring coordinates setting forms stored. As a result, the set state of the measuring coordinates is judged automatically and the set state of the measuring coordinates and the subsequent measuring item for taking a reference are displayed. The worker carries out a measurement for the measuring item for taking the reference displayed and when an end signal is inputted, a measuring data is computed automatically to calculate a measured value of a measuring part and measuring coordinates are set automatically from the measured value calculated based on the measuring coordinates setting form selected by the worker.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
