PURPOSE:To stably obtain the rapidly cooled thin metallic strip by bringing the tip of pouring nozzle preheated to a prescribed temp. or above near to the surface of a cooling roll within a specific distance and removing the material sticking to the roll surface from said surface to clean the surface prior to pouring of a molten metal. CONSTITUTION:A tundish 2 is heated to about 1000 deg.C by a gas burner and the pouring nozzle 3 is heated to 1350 deg.C. The temp. of the nozzle tip is increased to =700 deg.C, for example, up to about 950 deg.C. The nozzle tip of this temp. is then lowered to within 100mm from the surface of the cooling roll 1, characteristic right above 5mm and is held for a prescribed period of time. The nozzle tip is thereafter raised to 30mm above the roll 1 surface and the tundish 2 is reheated. The heating 4 for pouring is then stopped and after the gap between the roll and the nozzle is moved to 0.4mm, the molten alloy of, for example, Fe78B12Si9C1(at.%) compsn. which is previously held at 1300 deg.C is poured. The generation of a paddle break is entirely obviated and the stable condition is obtd. right after the start of the pouring in the above-mentioned process for producing the strip by pouring.
