PURPOSE: To obtain a carcinogenic promotion-inhibiting composition containing the extract of Citrus hystrix, an edible plant grown in Thai, as an active ingredient and useful for foods, cosmetics and medicines such as anticancer agents which inhibit the generation of tumors or cancers. ;CONSTITUTION: This carcinogenic promotion-inhibiting composition contains the extract of Citrus hystrix (especially leaves), an edible plant grown in Thai, especially its extract with a hydrophilic organic solvent (preferably a polar organic solvent), as an active ingredient. The composition can be prepared into foods, cosmetics and medicines such as antitumor agents. The active ingredient of the extract of the Citrus hystrix is a compound of the formula (R1, R2 are α-linolenoyl, palmitoyl). The extract of the Citrus hystrix is useful as a carcinogenic promotion-inhibiting ingredient, because of strongly inhibiting the activation of EBV with teleocidin B-4, a promoter, and is highly safe because of being originated from the edible material.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1994,JPO
