The plug (1) is pushed into the ends of the hollow plastics bars and is attachable to the window frame. The body of the plug is waffle shaped between two outer walls joined by a thin central cross wall (14). The breadth (B) of the dividing walls (6) of the plug is narrower than the plug and provide reinforcement without reducing the elasticity of the plug unduly. The plug can be forced into the free ends of the hollow frame members without splaying same or distorting the frame. The width of the reinforcing cross profiles (B) is about a third of the total width (D) of the plug. The end of the plug has a locating flange (7) to define the end position of the fitted plug.
