Hand=held automatic labeller used e.g. for applying price labels to manufactured or fresh products

The labeller consists of a reel (7) for a paper strip (8) with labels (10), mounted on a housing (2) containing a paper strip drive, a rear handle (4) and a front feeler arm (3) along which the strip slides as far as the label application zone. The labeller incorporates a system for stiffening the used paper strip after the labels have been detached from it and feeding it through a lengthwise guide (18) on the handle for removal. The guide is in the form of an elongated compartment inside or outside the handle (4) and open at both ends, and the strip (8), which is of siliconised paper, passes between two cylindrical components between the feeler arm and the handle before it enters the guide. The cylindrical components comprise a driven pulley (16) and a roller (17) which form ribs in the paper strip to reinforce it.
