PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a conductive thin coat having uniform thickness, by making a metallic composition, having proper base plate wetting and uniform thickness of coating when the coating is applied onto a base plate, to heat and bake the metallic composition. SOLUTION: As a base plate 1, for instance, the following is used: quarts glass, glass wherein the containing quantity of impurity such as Na is decreased, blue plate glass, a glass base plate, etc., laminated with SiO2 formed by a sputter method, etc., on the blue plate glass, and a ceramics such as alumina, etc., As material for opposite element electrodes 2 and 3a, for instance, the following is selected from; metal or alloy such as Ni, Cr, Au, Mo, W, Pt, Ti, Al, Cu, Pd, and metal, etc., such as Pd, Ag, Au, RuO2 , Pd-Ag. A metallic composition for manufacturing an electron radiating element is applied onto the base plate 1 provided with the element electrodes 2 and 3 to be heated and baked to obtain a conductive thin coat 4. Such heating and baking can form a conductive thin coat having uniform thickness.
