PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To decrease the misread rate of characters printed by a printer, etc. ;SOLUTION: This device is equipped with a character image data acquiring means 1, a fixed dictionary 3 wherein information for performing character recognition as to character image data is stored fixedly, the learning dictionary 4 on which correction input is reflected, a recognizing process part 2 which performs a character recognizing process as to the character image obtained by the character image acquiring means 1 by referring to the fixed dictionary 3 and learning dictionary 4, and a control part 5 which registers or not register a corrected and inputted character as a correct character in the learning dictionary 3 according to the similarity of the character regarding correction input of the recognition result for the correction input done for the recognition result.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
