ERROR CORRECTION CIRCUIT, DISK REPRODUCTION DEVICE USING THE CIRCUIT AND CD-ROM DRIVE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk reproduction device which can reduce the access frequency caused by the error corrections to a memory that is used for the transfer of data by using a 1st memory means which is used for the transfer of data together with a 2nd memory means which corrects the data errors. ;SOLUTION: The data are written into a data transfer memory 9 which stores the transfer data and a correction memory 14 which stores the error correction data. In an error correction processing mode, the data involved with a syndrome operation is carried out by reading the data out of the memory 14 and with no use of the data stored in the memory 9. If a correctable error is decided, the error position data are read out of the memory 14 and the addresses corresponding to both memories 9 and 14 are rewritten for the data obtained after correction of the error. As it's not required to transfer the data to the memory 9 from the memory 14 after correction of the error, an error correction executable period is longer than a conventional case and accordingly the reliability is improved for a data transmission system.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
