Memory card with error correction capability

The memory card has a main flash memory (11) for storage of data that is externally delivered over an interface (13). The memory card includes an error correction circuit (15) with an error correcting code (ECC), a processing circuit (19), an ECC memory (21), a control circuit (23) and a correction stage (25) that controls the writing of corrected data. The circuit calculates the ECC blocks for the stored data in the main memory. The ECC memory stores the computed error corrected code values. The control circuit compares the ECC codes for recovered data with the data in the main memory producing a control signal. The ECC memory includes corrected data based on this signal.
