The arrangement comprises a cam drive which engages with pushrods to which carriages (2,15) are linked. These carriages run on transfer rails while two carriages at opposite sides are interconnected by a cross traverse (12). The traverse is connected to the carriages via raising and lowering arrangements (1). Each lowering and raising arrangement has its own drive (6) which moves a link block running in a slot, via a torque transmission mechanism in the form of a toothed belt drive or a recirculating ball spindle.
