PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically execute the change of diameter of a vertical reinforcement and the change of winding pitch of a spiral reinforcement by detecting number of rotations of a tire in a knitting machine body with an encoder, using the detected number of pulses as the basis and controlling the transport-shift of a carriage in a vertical reinforcement pushing-out mechanism and the arrangement changing part of vertical reinforcement supporting lever in the knitting machine body. ;SOLUTION: The carriage 18 is shifted to the front and the back sides with starting of a servo-motor 56 by interlocking a speed reducer 57 connected with the servo-motor 56 and a driving shaft 58 through a sprocket and a chain 59 and winding a chain 21 connected with the car-rage 18 around the driving shaft 58. The vertical reinforcement is moved in the axial direction and the winding pitch of the spiral reinforcement is made to changable by shifting a pushing plate 14 rotating with the carriage 18. The winding pitch of the spiral reinforcement can freely be changed by steplessly changing the shifting speed of the carriage 18 and also, the encoder 60 is interlocked with the driving shaft 58, and the positional control of the carriage 18 is executed based on the condition inputted by an operator with the counts by the encoder 60.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
