PURPOSE:To improve resistance to thermal aging and discoloration by compounding a 4-methyl-1-pentene polymer with a specific phenolic stabilizer and a thioether compd. CONSTITUTION:100 pts.wt. 4-methyl-1-pentene polymer having a 4-methyl-1- pentene content of 85mol% or higher and a melt flow rate (ASTM D 1238, 5kg load, 200 deg.C) of 0.1-300g/10min is compounded with 0.01-2 pts.wt. at least one phenolic stabilizer selected from the group consisting of compds. having a phenol part of formula I or II(wherein R1 and R2 are each a 1-10C monovalent hydrocarbon group; and R3 and R4 are each H or a 1-10C monovalent hydrocarbon group) [e.g. tris(2,6-dimethyl-3-hydroxy-4-tert. butylbenzyl)isocyanurate] and 0.01-2 pts.wt. thioether compd. (e.g. distearyl thiodipropionate).
