PURPOSE:To obtain the subject granular body useful for powdery paint, etc., having excellent heat resistance and solvent resistance by dissolving specific imidized acrylic resin in a specific mixed solvent in heating, adding hydroxide or alcoholates of alkali metal and cooling with stirring. CONSTITUTION:An imidized acrylic resin containing =3wt.% glutarimide ring expressed by the formula (R1 and R2 are H or methyl) is dissolved in a mixed solvent composed of at least an alcohol of 1-5C aliphatic alcohol and cyclohexanol and water (mixing ratio is preferably 5-40wt.% water) in heating (concentration of the resin is preferably =50wt.%) and hydroxide and/or alcoholates of alkali metal (preferably 5-200mmol to 100g resin) is added to said solution, then the system is cooled with stirring to afford the aimed granular body.
