The method involves measuring the slip and peripheral tire force for at least one drive wheel during travel in the form of tire peripheral force-slip measurement pairs and determining a compensation graph for the measurement pairs. The offset value for the graph is determined with respect to the null point in a characteristic field conclusions are drawn from the offset value for the wheel radius ratio for at least one driven and undriven wheels.
