A mixed microbial population designated as JSB 98.0 (KCTC 0524BP) which can effectively degrade fecal material of animals is disclosed. Further, a method for purifying waste water polluted with said material or eliminating the offensive odors associated with the decay of said material utilizing JSB 98.0 is disclosed.
