ORIENTATION SOLIDIFICATION DEVICE OF ROTATION IN HORIZONTAL AXIAL DIRECTION, AND ITS METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an orientation solidification device of the rotation in the horizontal direction to manufacture an oriented solidification casting having fine structure by using a mold directed in the horizontal direction, and its method.;SOLUTION: A mold 10 is filled with a molten metal, and placed in a casting heating furnace 14 in the beginning. The molten metal fills the mold from a pouring cup 10e placed above the mold through a cup runner. This cup runner is located in the vicinity of a crystal select flow passage 10c in the mold. The mold filled with the molten metal is taken out of the casting heating furnace in the beginning to solidify the molten metal in the mold of the flow passage of the pouring cup. In order to reduce the segregation of alloy elements in solidifying the molten metal, the mold is turned around the axis in the horizontal direction, and the mold is taken out during that time. The molten metal is first solidified in an entry part of the pouring cup in the mold in order to prevent the molten metal from flowing out from the mold through the pouring cup when the mold is subsequently turned.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
