NOVEL PROCESS FOR THE REMOVAL OF A SILYLOXY PROTECTING GROUP FROM 4-SILYLOXY-TETRAHYDRO-PYRAN-2-ONES

Lovastatin, pravastatin, simvastatin, mevastatin, atorvastatin, fluvastatin, cerivastatin, their derivatives and analogues are known as HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors and are used as antihypercholesterolaemics. Most of them are produced by different microorganism based fermentation. The microorganisms can be attributed to the families of Aspergilus, Monascus, Nocardia, Amycolatopsis, Mucor or Penicillium, some more recent ones for example are the result of processing of fermentation products by chemical synthesis methods for example simvastatin or completely synthetic products. The presented invention deals with a new procedure of removing the silyline protection by four hydroxy groups, which is used in the process of producing simvastatin, its derivatives and analogues.
