PURPOSE: Disclosed is a panel electrode structure for an alternating current plasma display panel capable of maintaining a discharge holding voltage and of generating a positive column discharge. CONSTITUTION: The panel electrode structure for an alternating current plasma display panel includes the first transparent electrode(21) and the second bus electrode(22). In order to operate the alternating current plasma display panel, the distance between the first transparent electrode(21) and the second bus electrode(22) is increased. An auxiliary electrode(23) is installed between the first transparent electrode(21) and the second bus electrode(22). This auxiliary electrode(23) uses a relatively low holding voltage and receives a compensative voltage in order to enhance the efficiency of positive column discharge. The auxiliary electrode(23) maintains a predetermined voltage which is smaller than a holding pulse.
