PURPOSE: A gear shift assembly is provided to reduce gearshift operating force, enhance gear shift quality and determine exact gearshift position of a gearshift lever. CONSTITUTION: A gear shift assembly comprises a gearshift lever case(2), a gearshift lever(6), a shift cable(8) and a positioning device. The positioning device reduces gearshift lever operating force and determines the gearshift position of the gearshift lever, which comprises a supporter(12), a supporting ball(14), an elastic member(16) and a housing(18). The supporting ball elastically moves along the lower curved surface of the supporter when operating gearshift lever so as to reduce gearshift operating force and also make exact gearshift possible because the supporting ball is exactly supported on gearshift position as well as neutral position.
